Designing sounds and systems with creative programming

In this hands-on workshop, participants will explore the art of designing and processing digital sounds using creative programming techniques. Whether you’re working on music productions, soundtracks, interactive interfaces, field recordings, installations, or video games, this session will equip you with the tools and strategies to bring your sonic ideas to life.

We’ll dive into key concepts of sound synthesis, manipulation, and integration, with practical demonstrations on software like Supercollider, C++, Mercury, and other live coding languages. You’ll learn how to create custom sounds, manipulate audio in real time, and develop innovative soundscapes for various media applications.

Lectures

Exploring the Capabilities of Digital, 3d printed electroacoustic Instruments

This presentation share findings and the artistic possibilities of digital instruments and its realm of possibilities by learning and interacting with the instrument Knurl. Knurl is a 16 string music instrument made by Rafaele Andrade with 3D printing technology, sensors, electronics and the latest audio technology.

Through improvisation exercises and collaborative sessions, the participants are invited to test its digital mapping system, 3d printing acoustics, electronic sound designs and uncover its design features. This is an experience merging and crossovering expertise and curiosity on the realm of 3D Printing and electronics technology as part of music interfaces , with a focus on sharing the unique perspectives and features for musicians. The end result of this activity will be followed up by an improvisation session with Rafaele and the participants .
